Helena woke to the sound of bone scraping against teeth!

An unforgettable sound. It was one of those sounds that you never forget once you’ve seen it and heard it for the first time. Seared into her brain the memory of the carnage she was forced to bear witness to, so long ago.

Growing up as a sheep among wolves she should be used to the sound by now yet, she didn’t think she would ever get used to the sound of bones gnashing of teeth. Slurping up the marrow like it was a cup of jello.

She slipped on her robe and quickly stuffed her long raven hair in a haphazard bun. Lifting the flap that made up the door to her little hut. The smell of charred flesh assaulted her delicate senses.

The early morning mist was slowly rising from the ground and as she stepped into the pit area the mist dissipated. A gasp escaped her at the scene before her.

Pure carnage, her blood thirsty wolves all twelve of them were feasting on what used to be a human. Several of them right smack dab in the middle of all the chaos was a man strapped to a pole naked bleeding and alive!

Between the sight before her and the smell of burnt flesh, the bile began to rise up in her throat. How many times did she tell these guys not to bring their food back to camp! It would take months for her to get this smell out of her nostrils!

She looked down at each and every one of her adopted brothers with a menacing look. As each one looked up at her with a mixture of pleasure and shame! Helena rolled her eyes and stalked toward the man hanging like a pig on a spit!

She knew he was her peace offering for her brother’s misdeeds and yet as the only one here that didn’t eat meat she found it horrifying that they would string this man up like cattle getting ready for slaughter, for her!

She rushed to his side and began to untie his wrists when a single drop of blood splashed down from his side onto her hand. The instant assault on her senses caused her stomach to rumble with hunger and her dead heart began to race! How long had it been since she had eaten anyway? Too long, judging by her tummy that was now screaming, just one bite!

Helena came round to face the man to look into his eyes to see the fear. She shoved her head into his neck and sniffed deeply he smelled delicious! She could almost taste the metallic ambrosia as it slid to the back of her throat.

She pulled back to look at the poor man again hypnotizing him with her now silver glowing eyes! “Don’t worry, you won’t feel a thing.” She whispered as her fangs elongated and she punctured his neck! The last sounds she heard before his sweet, warm, blood gushed into her mouth were howling of her brothers and the thoughts LET THE FEAST BEGIN…
